The hallmarks of high key are images that convey a sense of energy, lightness, and happiness due to the high proportion of whiteness in relation to the amount of mid and dark tones (shadows) present in the image.  A distraction-free background for a (usually) well detailed subject is also a hallmark of high key images.  The high key style is appropriate for all photographic categories including landscape, nature, wildlife, portraits, and still life.

This two-session class will include classroom review and practical exercises in environment and subject selection; in-camera manipulation; and post-processing techniques to create images in a high key style. The first session will also include a participant exercise with instructors’ assistance.    A slide review presentation of your images created the first session and on your own will be shared during the second session.

Instructors: Pam Careau and Margaret Maione

Experience Level: Intermediate and Advanced

Equipment: This class is best suited for cameras that have the ability for manual exposure adjustment/manipulation. Post processing programs with highlight, shadow, and single-color adjustment tools are required. (Note: Lightroom is available on Grand Photos computers for member use in processing their images).

Registration: REQUIRED

This class will be available for registration November 1, 2019
